Book Club and Reading Games: Break the ice and Five prediction activities
Started or thinking of starting a Book Club, but afraid you'll run out of ideas or inspiration to keep your group motivated? Worry not - we are starting a series of short, practical posts with fun games and activities for your reading group or class. In our catalogue you will find exciting texts, and you already have an excellent class or Book Club. And you'll soon realise that the words 'fun' and 'game' can work magic in a classroom.
Break the ice
The first game this week is a 'Break the ice' activity to get to know each other better. You can also use it in the classroom.
Five prediction activities
The second activity focuses on different ways of playing with a text before reading it. Prediction is a useful reading strategy, and we do need to train our readers to use prediction consciously. You will find five ways of using prediction as an introduction to the text.
