Iván Eröd

Born in Budapest, Hungary, began his musical education at the Budapest Conservatory. In 1956 Iván Eröd emigrated to Vienna where he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts. He performed as a pianist in Europe and the Middle East and worked as a répétiteur at the Vienna State Opera. He became a professor for composition and music theory at the Conservatory in Graz and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he has been living again since 1989. He has received numerous awards and was honored with the Great Silver Cross of Honor for services to the Republic of Austria. Iván Eröd has been one of Austria's most frequently performed contemporary composers.
