Franz Rieder

Born in 1942 in Collepietra (South Tirol, Italy), Franz Rieder studied church music at the school for church music in Brixen and completed an education as conductor in Innichen. In 1965 Rieder took over the direction of the wind ensemble in Jenesien (near Bolzano) and in 1968 he switched to the wind ensemble Soprabolzano which he conducted till 1990. In addition, he succeeded as conductor in his hometown of Collepietra in 1966. Franz Rieder is a music teacher at his own private music school in Bolzano. His compositional œuvre encompasses primarily music for brass instruments and sacred choral music. For his achievements he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the region Tyrol.
